Following the surprise announcement of their appearance at Japan Expo Paris this year, the idol group =LOVE took some time out of their busy schedule to answer our questions. We invite you to discover or rediscover them in this exclusive interview.

Your group was officially launched a little over a year ago, and everything has moved very quickly. Your very first stage was none other than the HOT STAGE of the famous Tokyo Idol Festival. And now, you are already in France, performing live in front of a completely new audience. How do you handle this rapid rise?

Yamamoto Anna: It has not even been a year since we debuted on stage at the HOT STAGE of the Tokyo Idol Festival 2017, where we had so much fun. Being able to perform here in France at Japan Expo makes us truly happy, thank you very much.

=LOVE is produced by the famous HKT48 member Sashihara Rino. That must be an honor for all of you. Do you have regular contact with her? Has she given you advice or shared her experience to help you progress?

Yamamoto Anna: Indeed, Sashihara-san is very involved with us. She comes to see our performances and gives us her feedback along with a lot of advice so that we can improve. She also listens to us a lot and sometimes even invites us out to eat with her.

You are also co-produced by the “Yoyogi Animation” school in Tokyo. Could you tell us more about this school? What kind of experience does it provide you?

Oba Hana: We learn a lot from this school because we regularly take expression and acting classes. At first, the work of a seiyuu (voice actor) seemed really difficult to us, but little by little we are improving and doing our best in that direction.

It was short, but we would like to thank =LOVE and their management for giving us some of their time for this interview. =LOVE’s performances won over the entire Japan Expo audience, and we wish them the best for their already bright future.

The 12 members also wanted to leave a message for you ahead of their participation in the Tokyo Idol Festival 2018 (August 3 to 5) in Odaiba.
