The 2025 edition of Japan Expo once again welcomed a group now well known to both the French public and Bonjour Idol: Banzai Japan, celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the group returned for their eighth appearance at an event in France. Their continued presence is a clear sign of their strong bond with the French audience, something quite rare in the international idol scene.

Appearing in full force with ten members over all four days of the festival, they performed on all the major music stages: Kamo, Tsubamé, and Ichigo. They also held signing sessions on Thursday and Friday, giving fans valuable moments of close interaction.

Every Banzai Japan performance is packed with energy, positivity, and a heartfelt tribute to Japan. Their style blends traditional and modern sounds with choreographies inspired by unmistakably Japanese elements. As trained idols, they know how to win over an audience with every smile, wink, and interaction, delighting both long-time fans and curious newcomers.

On Friday, the group also appeared on the Washoku stage, where they prepared and served freshly made onigiris for the audience. Each member crafted their favorite version of the traditional Japanese rice ball, adding a personal touch to the experience. A wholesome moment all around.

As is their custom, and with a bit of luck, you could spot them walking through the festival aisles, handing out flyers and cheerful greetings to anyone willing to lend them a moment of attention, kindly inviting people to attend their next shows. This practice is emblematic of independent idols, and Banzai Japan embraces it wherever they go.

The most striking moment of their appearance this year was undoubtedly their surprise collaboration on the Ichigo Stage with Starrysky, a French-Belgian-Japanese group blending J-pop and alternative rock. This unannounced performance created a wave of excitement. The two groups shared the stage in a burst of color and energy. With Starrysky already accompanied by backing vocalists, and musicians Banzai Japan still managed to stand out thanks to their vibrant costumes and infectious joy. The result was a lively, refreshing performance that will remain for us a highlight of the festival. A short but unforgettable moment.

It was once again a true pleasure to see Banzai Japan take part in this yearly celebration of Japanese culture, a festival where they have, over the years, become one of its most iconic representatives.

Thank you to Japan Expo for continuing to welcome them.
