“Nothing Is Final” – The Farewell of Fragrant Drive
Fragrant Drive Last Live
It was with a mix of joy and sadness that we reunited with the idol group Fragrant Drive for their very last concert on July 20th at Shibuya WWW. We first met them at the end of January and instantly fell under the charm of their colorful and cheerful universe, which we introduced to you in our discovery article.
After celebrating their 3rd anniversary with a dedicated concert on April 29th in Shibuya, the six members invited their fans for one final performance filled with emotion.
In front of a packed venue, this long-awaited and dreaded finale began. The first part, already blazing with energy, featured ten songs in a row, including Nothing Is Final, Growing Up, Magnet, and fancy drop love. It ended with Everlasting First Kiss, as the venue resounded with the calls and chants of the audience, pushing the atmosphere to its peak.
Then came a short intermission, plunging the venue into deep silence. A ten-minute interview video was projected, letting us hear each member’s voice as they looked back on their journey and shared their thoughts about being an idol. It was a true retrospective, filled with gratitude towards their fans, highlighting the essential place they hold in their lives, and expressing the joy of having met to build such a beautiful group together.
The mood in the venue changed drastically after this short aside. Emotions began to surface through a few tears, both in the audience and on stage.
The second and final part consisted of twelve songs in a row, with deeply emotional moments such as during Hoshi ni Negai wo, where several members broke down in tears during their parts.
The energetic and colorful tones of I’m a Dreamer and Your Opal brought back a bit of pep to the atmosphere, leading to a stunning finale with Suki da!.
The encore began with Evergreen, right before reaching the moment everyone had been dreading that evening: each member’s farewell speech.
Starting with Mitsumaru Yua, each speech was filled with emotion, mixing gratitude, regret, and a strong sense of pride. The quote that stood out to us this time was:
There were so many landscapes I wanted to show you.
「見せたい景色がいっぱいありました。」
Simple words, yet so meaningful, summarizing the sincerity and strength of their feelings towards their fans and fellow members, closing this series of messages with an emotion that will remain forever engraved in everyone’s memory.
The concert ended with a set of songs directly tied to the evening’s main theme. By performing Nothing Is Final, Seed Of Departure, and Stay Gold, the members delivered a clear message to their fans: these may be farewells, but everyone must follow their own path towards happiness.
The performance concluded with the group’s signature song, Mune no Oku no Vermillion, followed by one last bow to their audience, microphones laid down on the stage.
Witnessing the end of a group is always a special moment, whether you know them well or not. We were truly grateful to have followed Fragrant Drive’s journey for these past few months and to have had the chance to witness the conclusion of their adventure this past July 20th.
We hope to see some of them on stage again in the future, but above all, we wish them happiness and success in their respective careers.
