As Bonjour Idol’s producer ‘Nato’ is back in Japan this January, we made the most of this month to find new idol groups to introduce to you. And here is one of them: we are pleased to introduce the adorable idol group Kimi to Serendipity!

After a debut in October 2022 at Sanrio Puroland, and they are also known as ‘KimiSere’. Their name means 『この出会いが、幸せな未来になりますように。』, which translates to "May this encounter lead to a happy future."

So far, they have released a total of nine songs, across two EPs. Tsubasa was released in April 2023. Above is their latest MV for Natsu wa Koi, the title track for EP Serendipity Anthem, released in October 2023.

The group has had two generations of members, but the current line-up consists of five members: were present on the day Ishibashi Nana, Futaba Saki, Imai Yumi and Tachibana Natsumi. The fifth member, Amanai Haru, was unfortunately unable to attend the event.

We had the opportunity to meet them at taiban event (a gathering where multiple idol groups perform back-to-back) Polaristella Vol.10 held at Shibuya DESEO on January 16th.

Many idol groups performed that day, but our focus was on KimiSere’s performance! They took the stage for twenty minutes, performing four songs: ‘Naisho Banashi’, ‘Natsu wa Koi’, ‘Chance wa Mawaru’, and ‘Jinsei is Beautiful!!!’.

It was our first time seeing them live, and their music gives off great vibes of classic orthodox and carefully-crafted idol songs. Their cute choreographies are also very well-executed, making them look like quite the experienced idol group on stage despite being only active for two years.

Right after their tokutenkai (literally "special event", the time when fans can purchase goods and take photos with their idols after a performance), we were able to have a brief chat with the groupe to introduce Bonjour Idol.

Some of the members had studied French at school in the past and remembered some words like "Bonjour" (hello), "Merci" (thank you)  or "S’il vous plaît" (please)! They have never performed abroad yet, but they are really enthusiastic and would love to be able to stand on an overseas stage one day.

This was our first encounter with the idol group Kimi to Serendipity, and we hope to see them again soon—perhaps to celebrate their next anniversary this October!

A big thank you to Tsurumi-san and the team of K.T. Maurice & Company for welcoming us, and to the girls for their wonderful performance.
