The Jiemei Experience in Japan Expo

Japan Expo 2025 Summary

Among the biggest names of Japan Expo 2025 in France, Jiemei stood out as one of the most anticipated and talked-about idol groups of the festival. Lucky for fans and curious ones alike, the members of Jiemei graced the event for all four days, electrifying the Tsubamé, Ichigo and Kamo stages.

What truly set their performances apart was their ability to masterfully balance powerful stage presence with impeccable vocal control. Their movements were sharp, dynamic, and purposeful, yet always oriented toward the audience. Every song became an exchange, an effort to connect with as many people as possible.

Eye contact, hand gestures, smiles, nothing was left to chance. Even our photographer got a share of that attention with this unique picture! Which says a lot about how present and generous they were throughout each set.

Jiemei’s setlist was nothing short of impressive, offering a well-balanced mix of old favorites and more recent releases. They performed early tracks like IRIS and REALIZE, as well as several songs from the LUNA4 album, including Tsun Kara Dere Made 5 Byou Mae, Na?, La La Rebirth, Dorodarake Hero, and DigDigDig.

They also included Mash!! from their 2023 releases, while their 2024 EP IYKYK was represented by Ye-yo and Ongaku. They also played Nietzsche and Garandou Land, taken from one of their most recent EPs, KILLER. And of course, WE ARE! was part of the set, a track we had already highlighted in our previous discovery feature on the group.

Standouts for us were REALIZE, Na?, and La La Rebirth. These songs truly encapsulated the band’s emotional range and technical skill. The intensity of their voices, the sharpness of their choreography, and their smart use of the stage space were enough to give us goosebumps!

On Sunday, Jiemei had a fun time participating in the Japan Expo Game Show! The concept: two people from the audience are chosen to join a team, either HATE and TEARS or Jiemei, to take part in two games. First, a blind test on anime openings then a dexterity challenge with a Jenga tower, where each participant had to remove a block without making the tower fall. In the end, team Jiemei won, just barely!

Fans also had the chance to meet the group up close during two signing sessions on Thursday and Friday. Jiemei warmly greeted each person, taking the time to chat and sign merchandise.

To conclude Japan Expo in style, the Idol Town Festival All Stars took place on Sunday, bringing together all the musical groups on the Ichigo stage, the festival’s largest. Jiemei were able to perform in front of a much larger audience, under the best lighting effects the festival had to offer.

In the end, Jiemei left a lasting impression on everyone who saw them live. Their technical prowess, emotional commitment, and love for audience interaction made each performance feel intimate with a gesture of attention for every person who came to see them. Even in a weekend full of memorable acts, Jiemei made us want more. And honestly? We still do.

Thanks to Pachi Pachi Project and Japan Expo festival for welcoming Jiemei.
