HATE and TEARS Dropped the Bass in France!
Japan Expo 2025 Summary
On Bonjour Idol, we first published a discovery article, followed by a long interview with HATE and TEARS to anticipate their first visit to Europe, at the 2025 edition of Japan Expo, Paris, which took place over four days, from July 3 et July 6.
Naturally, it was with great pleasure that we finally saw them on site: first to meet them, then to bring you some shots that we hope are worthy of their incredible performances on the various stages offered by the festival. Let’s dive into this live report!
Throughout the four days of Japan Expo, they didn’t miss a single opportunity to shake the speakers with their electro-pop style.
Their overflowing energy and contagious good mood got hundreds of festival-goers dancing, sometimes shy at first due to unfamiliarity with the group, but it didn’t take long before they became the French I.B.U (the nickname for HATE and TEARS fans).
Unlike more traditional idol groups, their producer also got involved, performing alongside Kayo, ui, and Misa, adding a “clubbing” touch with a DJ set that further fueled an already explosive atmosphere.
It’s with the songs Dirty Museum and Ore wa Ore! that the magic clearly works every time, with euphoria taking over a won-over audience, always left wanting more!
Did you know? The group composed a song specifically for this occasion "You should be better" and was available until the end of the festival. But don't worry, the song will realease again in the near future, so stay tuned to enjoy it fully!
On Friday, HATE and TEARS had a fun time participating in the Japan Expo Game Show!
The concept: two people from the audience are chosen to join a team, either HATE and TEARS or Jiemei, to take part in two games. First, a blind test on anime openings then a dexterity challenge with a Jenga tower, where each participant had to remove a block without making the tower fall.
In the end, team Jiemei won, just barely!
To conclude Japan Expo in style, the Idol Town Festival All Stars took place on Sunday, bringing together all the musical groups on the Ichigo stage, the festival’s largest.
HATE and TEARS were able to perform in front of a much larger audience, under the best lighting effects the festival had to offer.
Bonjour Idol thanks the group for making the trip and sincerely hopes they will return to Europe, because without a doubt, the fans who were won over today will be waiting for them tomorrow.
The latest song, Broken Diamond, has been released on July 9!
Furthermore, a serie of videos made by them are available on Youtube dedicated to their performances.
Thanks to Japan Expo festival for welcoming such groups.
